Skyblock began as a collection of four survival maps posted on minecraftforum by Noobcrew on September 4th, 2011.

On September 13th 2012, Noobcrew set up Xenforo on the https://skyblock.net site to coincide with the multiplayer server on the same world.[1]


Versions

Skyblock 1.0

A 3x3 block of dirt with a single sand and a single bedrock with no secondary island.

Skyblock 1.1

A 3x3 block of dirt with a single sand and a single bedrock with a secondary sand island providing birch, obsidian and cactus. This is the second most popular map, with 1.9 million downloads.[2]

Skyblock 2.0

An L shaped dirt island with three sand and one bedrock block. It has no secondary island.

Skyblock 2.1

An L shaped dirt island with three sand and one bedrock block. It has a secondary sand island providing birch, obsidian and cactus. This is the most popular map with over 8 million downloads on its own.[2]


Derivative Works

Skygrid

Released on May 5th, 2012 by Sethbling[3], it is a grid of random blocks, with an end portal at 0, 0. It has occaisional chests and spawners.

Oasis Survival

Like an inverse skyblock, a small patch of grass in an otherwise desert landscape. Released September 12th, 2013 on minecraftforum by JuggerBlocky. Noobcrew also endorsed this

Oneblock

A map where, through the use of either mods or datapacks, has a single block that when broken, will regenerate. In some cases, it will not regenerate.
